Scholar's Forum is one
of several new alternative
publishing models for scholarship proposed by the
California Institute of Technology in 1999 ("Scholars'
Forum: A New Model For Scholarly Communication" <http://library.caltech.edu/publications/scholarsforum/>).
It shares with the Guild
Publishing Model the idea of decoupling
peer review from publishing. It also shares with the
E-print archive and Institutional
Repository the idea of pre-publishing and archiving
scholarly papers in order to accelerate access to scholarship
within or across disciplines, while still allowing for
scholarly community-based evaluation.
